First, consider as a human then provide rights As if today the gender spectrum is restricted to two extremes either male or female. The majority population accepts these ideas as true and lives according to the physical and mental construction the society made for isolating the third gender. their cultural values are not cherished. British view them as criminals and our westernized India has forgotten their importance in epics and historical kingdoms of India. So for the sake of them, the government had implemented many protection laws as human rights which lead to the protest of transgender activists. Punishment for rapist of transgender  is from 6 months to 2 years whereas a person who raped  women is considered more serious and punished from  7 years to lifelong. Providing gender identity certificate for the third gender is also a dehumanizing measure by government towards them. These human rights that violates their human values and which increase their vulnerability ...

When Age Determines One's Rights..

Image
Human rights are the most fundamental rights of a human being. Even though, in many occasions it is denied to some categories in the society. The human rightof olderpersons is a topic that has been long time neglected. The basic reason is that the older generations are not aware of their human rights due to high prevalence of illiteracy and lack of awareness.             The senior citizens, once enjoyed all the previlages from the society as well as from their family. Once, they were the key elements who control and maintain the society. As the situation changes, their significance also had diminished.                   Older persons are not a homogeneous group, and the challenges they face in the protection or enjoyment of their human rights vary greatly. While some continue to lead active live as part to their community, many others fa...

Human Rights Violation In Health Care System

The current health status of our country is very poor in some states it is very much higher than the national average for example in Kerala we achieve a imensive development in health care system. During the covid-19 pandemic also many people die due to lack of proper health care system and lack of oxygen etc. So we can see human rights violation in its extreme sense during the pandemic days.                  The discriminated sections are much more affected because of due to their low economic status they are mainly depend on the government hospitals. But the rich people pay more and seek good health care in foreign countries and private hospitals. In case of Kerala also the CM is going to US for better health care. So it is clear cut that in India we can see a drastic human rights violation in health care system. The governments are not pay so much attention to the problem because they had the opportunity to seek good health care in differe...

Is sedition law violate human rights According to the Indian, Constitution Indians are granted freedom of opinion, speech. Are these granted rights are violated due to other laws? 'Sedition' is such a law that denied the right of a well spoke, responsible person's critical way of opposing the government they belong to. there are many such examples before us like the recent arrest of Shashi Tharoor and reporters. Here a question exists is the government cannot be criticized to undergo correction or the citizens lack the power to do so then what is the significance to have freedom of speech and expression in India. who is being profited due to this British government's suppression law? This proves that India is freed from the British monarchy but not from their ideology to create inactive citizens. Aswin U

Rape- A tool for Suppressing Women                 “You know, you don’t ask yourself any questions when you slit a goat’s neck or a chicken’s.  A woman is like that.  We did what we wanted to them”- These were the words of a former soldier in one of those ragtag armies that ran rough shed over war torn Congo.  He was a brutal serial rapist.  This was an answer to the question “Why you are so violent towards women asked by Nobel laureate Dr. Denis Mukwege.      This was the attitude of most of the man towards the rape.  This man lack respect to woman. “He writes that he never worried about the pain he inflicted because it satisfied his own sexual and violent desires, like cooked chicken or goat satisfied his hunger.”  That he just considered women like animals. Hearing this Dr. became astonished.       Dr.Mukwege wrote this man’s story in his bo...

HUMAN RIGHTS AND THE INSTITUTION OF MARRIAGE

Image
The equal and inalienable rights of all human beings provide the foundation for freedom, justice and peace in the world.  The Human Rights based approach focuses on those who are marginalized, discriminated and excluded. While addressing an issue based on human rights focus is given to gender norms and power imbalances in society. The Human Rights based approach emphasises that people are actors in their own development rather than passive recipients of service.Human rights is basic to human to life.           But all these values fade into the background while considering marriage as an institution. In the 21st century Indian context marriage is one of only a handful of events where casteism, elitism and classism can be showcased without any public outrage. These social evils are perpetuated at the expense of the bride and the groom.           Marriage , in the Indian context is an event of the com...

CRITICAL THEORY: A CRITIQUE OF POLICE ADMINISTRATION

Security is a basic social need. The police administration is the basic form of social security. The Police administration-from the lowest ranking officials to the ranked officers , has always been an important institution in the social world. Historically and most importantly in the present world , the police administration suffers from the problems created by a lack identity and value system. The administration has always been a tool for oppression, from which escape is virtually impossible.Police administration, as any other institution in a capitalist society, helps in the promotion and propagation of rational thinking in society. It has always helped in the consolidation of widely held social beliefs against the " marginalized population". While perpetuating mass culture the police administration has also indulged in crucifying the 'deviant' behavior which goes against the proponents of culture. This has created a system of fear culture. Mass media also helps in b...

One Dimensional Man

Image
ONE DIMENSIONAL MAN           In 1964, Herbert Marcuse in his book “One Dimensional Man: Studies in the Ideology of Advanced Industrial Society”, described the state of society under capitalism.     One Dimensional Man means someone who is subjected to a new kind of totalitarianism in the form of consumerist and technological capitalism.  Marcuse considers Rationalism as a form of oppression which denies the possibility of change.      Marxism believes that change occurs in history as a result of internal conflict due to discontent.  A man under capitalism is a type of blissful slaves they are willingly obeying a system which makes him rationally irrational.  He cannot deviate from the general behaviour.  He cannot make conflicts that make him multidimensional and capable of change.       For Marcuse, One Dimensional Man is cl...

Empowering organic agricultural technique       Due to the involvement of modern artificial technique in agriculture, traditional organic agricultural technique become outdated . Over implementation of artificially modified high yeilding seed varities in uneducated farmers this led to the domination of artificial technique on peasants at a large extent. As this is a agricultural milestone for satisfying increasing food demands of growing population. This artificial technique gaining dominance over poor peasants as they are unaware about the modern composition of fertilizer and how to grow genetically modified crops. This domination led to exploitation of peasants by criticizing them as the reason for the crop failure. This social progress should be noted and peasant's freedom of choice should be encouraged. Herbert Marcuse - One dimensional man                          For Marcuse the one dimensional man is closely related to both consumerism and mass media that together serve as an ideological apparatus which reproduces itself through its subjects. This apparatus promotes conformity and is aimed at preventing resistance. Marcuse introduces the concept of the "one dimensional man" as someone who is subjected to a new kind of totalitarianism in the form of consumerist and technological capitalism. Rationalism for Marcuse is a form of oppression which denies the possibility of change. A man under capitalism is "one dimensional" since he bears no trace of the conflicts which make him multi-dimensional and capable of change. Aleena S Mohan Roll No : 05
HERBERT MARCUSE (1898-1979) One Dimensional Man. Herbert Marcuse is one of the most prominent members belonging to the Frankfurt School. ‘One Dimensional Man’ is a classic read work of Marcuse written in 1964, which offers the political anthropology of 20 th century deeply pessimistic liberal society. It is a work that criticizes modern societies in which capitalism and liberal democracy are the major features. Some of the major concepts introduced by Marcuse in One Dimensional Man include; ‘repressive sublimation’, ‘false needs’, ‘manipulation’ etc., in this work he also explains why transformative politics are unlikely to succeed.  Followed by Marcuse’s search for agents of change that are nevertheless able to undermine the total power of contemporary society, he also shows his normative vision of a libidinal democracy based on an implicit concept of positive freedom. Finally, the chapter assesses both the limitations of One-Dimensional Man and its continuity. ...

critical theory

Here, I try to explain the importance of critical theory in indian context : The developing India In the contemporary India is very complex, between through many ideal and drastic changes happening in the society. The population of state year by year increased but our productivity especially the agricultural sector faces many crises. Unemployment, deprivation, poverty social and economical issues are the greatest threats of our country. Marginalization against people are an important aspect of dehumanization.Politically the govt ensures many policies but the practical level and its the marginalized groups are suppressed and they can't meet their needs. Corruption is an example for this and also the implication and evaluation of policies are not in an appropriate manner thease are also affects their life. We can't only stick on developement another aspect's are an important factir in our society. The term humanity includes moral and valuable obligations among the human being. ...

Critical Theory

Critical Theory is working for emancipation of the oppressed from the exploitation of Capitalists and others.  The modern trade union movements are part of this.  Most of the multinational companies are like the earlier colonialists.  They start their companies in a foreign country and exploit the labour power of that country.  They make maximum profit by investing cheap labour costs compared to the labour cost in their homeland.  The people ignoring these facts are becoming consumerised in the modern world.  This causes degradation in the traditional trade networks, culture etc.  So what have to do is to start indigenous industries, trade etc.  One should become self sustainable in this modern world to become least susceptible to exploitation.
