When Age Determines One's Rights..


                    Human rights are the most fundamental rights of a human being. Even though, in many occasions it is denied to some categories in the society. The human rightof olderpersons is a topic that has been long time neglected. The basic reason is that the older generations are not aware of their human rights due to high prevalence of illiteracy and lack of awareness.

            The senior citizens, once enjoyed all the previlages from the society as well as from their family. Once, they were the key elements who control and maintain the society. As the situation changes, their significance also had diminished.

                  Older persons are not a homogeneous group, and the challenges they face in the protection or enjoyment of their human rights vary greatly. While some continue to lead active live as part to their community, many others face homelessness, lack of adequate care or isolation.

                 Multiple discrimination appears as an essential component of any analysis particularly when considering age related discrimination it often compounded by other grounds of discrimination, such as sex, socio economic status, ethinicity or health status. Human rights availability may not be static everytime. There are chances for neglecting or violating these rights with time as the situation changes....

Critical Theory

Critical Theory is working for emancipation of the oppressed from the exploitation of Capitalists and others.  The modern trade union movements are part of this.  Most of the multinational companies are like the earlier colonialists.  They start their companies in a foreign country and exploit the labour power of that country.  They make maximum profit by investing cheap labour costs compared to the labour cost in their homeland.  The people ignoring these facts are becoming consumerised in the modern world.  This causes degradation in the traditional trade networks, culture etc.  So what have to do is to start indigenous industries, trade etc.  One should become self sustainable in this modern world to become least susceptible to exploitation.
